Foo Fighters have welcomed Josh Freese as their new drummer. Josh, known for his previous work with the Offspring and Danny Elfman’s band, is taking on the important role following the passing of the beloved percussionist Taylor Hawkins last year. The band shared this exciting news during their Livestream event, Foo Fighters: Preparing Music For Concerts, which was recorded at their 606 studios in Northridge, California.
Fun fact: Josh Freese is actually the third drummer to join the Foo Fighters, not counting the talented Dave Grohl. Before Taylor Hawkins, William Goldsmith played drums on the band’s 1997 album, The Colour and Shape.
Fun fact: 606 Records is 4.6 miles away (10 min drive) From the famous Sound City. The recording studio where Nevermind, Rage Against the Machine, Rated R, Fleetwood Mac and more… was recorded.
It was a heartbreaking loss when Hawkins passed away at the age of 50 while on tour with the Foo Fighters in Bogotá, Colombia last year. The band had to cancel their remaining shows as they mourned their dear friend. However, they returned to the stage later in 2022 to honour Hawkins with two incredible tribute shows featuring an array of talented musicians.
